Infinite MonkeysThe last thing the Democrats wanted in this campaign was a social issue that will activate the conservative base that is lukewarm, at best, to McCain's campaign. So in that sense, four judges in California have done a service to the Republican ticket.
In California, at least, Republican and conservative turnout should be high to ensconce the definition of traditional marriage into the state constitution. McCain should already appeal to moderates and independents in California — a state in which Obama was soundly defeated by Hillary. And now he'll have lots of conservatives coming the the polls. If he keeps harping the issue of wanting Supreme Court Justices like Roberts, Alito, Scalia and Thomas, it will be easy for those energized conservatives to pull the lever for McCain to reinforce why they voted in the first place.
Oh, sure. Obama will call this important social issue a "distraction," and a "wedge" that is dividing the country. The media will chime in with the chorus. But, this ruling may force Obama to come out and defend what should be the easy win of California. And when your political opponent is fighting on his turf, and not yours, you have a great advantage.

the majority of califorinians said they did NOT want to redefine the term "marrage" from the union of one man and one woman to the union of two people. the court said they could not do that, because it "wasn't fair" to gays.
if you can show me just one CONSTITUTIONALLY guarenteed right married couples have that gays(and unmarried hetros) are denied, i will change my opinion.

none of the areguments i have heard arte constitutional areguements, they are all business/
legal/administrative decisions that gays don't like/agree with.
everything the gays are demanding can be had today with 3 legal documents...a will, a power of attourney, and a medical power of attourney.
insurance couverage?? no, but how is it the governments business telling the insurance companie3s who to cover?? and that is EXACTLY what the gays arte doing..forcding the government to force privet companies to change their polices to make the (minority)gays happy, inspite of what the (majority) people of the state want.
