When there are riots and death threats over an offense, it tells us that some muslims are not ready to enter into a modern world. I think I agree with Nicci, the major religions have all been corrupted by men in power. The Knights Templar were rounded up and killed because the king of France got the Pope at the time to help him so they could split the Templars assets. If you look back at history you find that government and religion go hand in hand. What better way to control a crowd than by controlling their fate in the afterlife. How many religions are there? There can only be one true faith.(one true god and creator) Faith is a personal thing. You make your mind up which god you wish to worship (if any) and you take the consequencies. All I ask is that you don't try and stuff your beliefs down my throat. Religion should be allowed to flourish in any decent society. But when religion tries to dictate our society we all have a problem. Worship who you want but please keep it a personal issue between you and your God. Any other issues should be dictated by our democratically elected representatives in government. That is freedom. The crux of this whole issue is the drawing of pictures of Mohammed. These pictures are not even aimed at Mohammed, they are clearly satirising fundamentalism and religious hatred. The idea, I believe, behind publishing these pictures was to expose the hipocrisy in fundamentalist Islam. Surely sensible Muslim leaders and Muslims can see that although blasphemous, these cartoons carry a strong message and one which needs to be discussed... sensibly... without threatening to kill one another.

There is fundamentalism in all religions and it invariably results in contradiction and confusion. I have utter respect for Muslims and know that 90% of them are sensible, well-balanced people. However, when one stops making decisions for oneself and hands responsiblility over to a single man who lived in very different times to these,

In early news there has been a publication in the Danish Newspaper of a cartoon depicting the prophet Muhammed as a terrorist pedophile, their has been great dilemma among Muslims who consider these images of prophet Muhammed as no ordinary criticism but as anti-Semitism. Muslims consider it as stigamaticism; very similar to the way Hitler stigmatizes the Jews. While I believe in freedom of press, I wonder if this crosses the line. We must understand that every country or even religion have their own idealism that must be respected. But I do not agree with Muslims that are threatening to kill or even bomb the individuals or country that created these images; there is much less violent way to respond to these images. This really has been blown out of proportion by the politics in Iran.
