Pat Robertson

Open letter to Pat Robertson:

Shut up!

Shut the F**k up!!!

Thank you.

UPDATE: I missed this, but apparently the band Cake (who?) said it better than I could, via Fraters Libertas.

Here here. I remember back in 1988, I was visiting my relatives in Texas, and one of my cousins was telling me how great Robertson was. She showed me his book. It was amazing--open to any page, and you'd find idiocy. For example, he talked about the Biblical idea of Jubilee, and suggested maybe we should have a forgiveness of all debts. What the?! Talk about economic collapse...this guy is an idiot.

I used to just roll my eyes at him. I didn't care about him and he wasn't my problem. But now everytime he [REDUNDANCY ALERT! REDUNDANCY ALERT!] opens his mouth and says something stupid, it is beyond embarassing. Just go away.

Amen. What annoys me the most about him is that he has become the face of evangelical Christians to many, many people in the US. Now I know how people feel about Al Sharpton.

I share your sentiments James. In fact, I expressed them in a post with song lyrics using those exact words. From a band that you should be familiar with. A post that was published on Monday.

other than overstating the judicial filibuster problem, I don't see what he said is so bad. As an evangelical myself (whom Pat isn't a very good rep) we do feel as though representing the religious in this country has been banned at all levels, most especially Judicial due to political correctness. Left leaning judges are fine and dandy but a right leaning judge is an extremist. This is big, big issue and that's all Pat was saying...keep saying it Pat.. don't shut up, just please sharpen your arguments.

Mr. Bob doesn't understand that freedom of religion is in our Bill of rights. This religious zealot, Robertson is not bringing people to Christianity but away from it. Unlike God, he does not allow humans freedom of choice. The "nuclear option" of the right is an abuse of power by the religious right who want to muzzle the majority of Americans. For 214 years, the minority group in Congress had the right to filibuster extreme and unfit judges. Now, the walking zombies of Robertson, calling independent judges as "activist" want to put a bunch of zombies who are not even fit to judge their own bad intentions in destroying the rule of law.

Pat Robertson is a wacko that should be put in an island, devoid of humans, shouting sermons on his bully pulpit for the rest of his days. Sex is more repulsive to him and many so called evangelical Christians than hate, murder, torture, injustice, inhumanity to others, deprivation of basic human needs to the poor, the widows and orphans. Sex is their obsession and pornography and the private lives of others. The more they get obsessed by it, the more hateful they become.

Ah, yes. I can see that we have earned the patronage of balanced, rational, and educated commenters that we have sought for so long. Welcome!
