Summitry: A Summary

The first annual (thankfully—I couldn't afford it if we got together more than once a year) Infinite Monkeys Summit concluded at 1:10 a.m. Sunday morning, and I would judge it a mixed success. It would have been an unmitigated triumph, but Monkeystein couldn't make it, which was a huge letdown. My agents tell me that the Doctor was last reported seen leaving the Gethsemane Abbey in Trappist, Kentucky. (Prayer and reflection? No, I think he went there for the beer.) And because my wife and I had another dinner engagement, we missed the knife fight at Ciudad. Robb emerged with only minor scratches, but I hear the other guy got a nasty laceration under his left eye. I did return in time for fire and Grand Marnier, however.

Here's a quick breakdown of the day's events:

  • Robb, Brad, and I dropped a pile of dough on five cases of miscellaneous, obscure soda pop at Galco's Old World Grocery in Eagle Rock.
  • Robb and I dropped more dough on booze at Top Line Wine and Spirits in Glendale.
  • Robb, Brad, and I met up with David and his fiance at The Brewery for the tail end of Artwalk. Brad begged for drugs. Curiously, he had a great deal of trouble finding what he was looking for.
  • The Monkeys drank.
  • The Monkeys depart for supper. Some ate new-wave Latin cuisine. Others ate good, old-fashioned steak.
  • The Monkeys reconvened around 9:30 and drank expensive, cognac-based orange liqueurs.
  • David's lovely and talented fiance played with fire, but didn't get burned!
  • Robb assembled the Official Soundtrack to the First Annual Infinite Monkeys Summit. Unfortunately, it was too late to compose a theme song.
  • Shortly after 1:00 a.m., the Monkeys adjourned.

What was discussed? I couldn't tell you. But I had so much fun, I didn't learn this bit of good news until late afternoon Sunday. I hope the other Monkeys all made it home safe and sound.
