Tina Fey / Sarah Palin

As soon as Palin was announced, my friend Deuce mentioned how much she looks like Tina Fey. When I finally saw her, I couldn't wait for the inevitable appearance on Saturday Night Live. In that regard, last week's premiere didn't disappoint:

Of course, in almost every other regard, the show was a complete bust. Weekend Update was about the only other segment that I remember being amused by. Ah, well.

Fey/Palin

"Saturday Night Live" isn't perfect, in its politics or humor, but it's one of the few sources for genuinely funny political commentary that isn't deeply partisan.

But have they made fun of Obama yet in any significant way? Teased him about anything?

SNL and Obama

You know, they didn't do much with Obama last year, other than the one Ben mentioned, and a couple of "Democratic Debate" segments. I think they were focusing on making fun of Hillary at the time. I also believe Fred Armison hasn't quite nailed Obama in a way that's, well, funny. After Will Ferrell left, they had similar problems with George W. Bush. They tried Chris Parnell, then the normally brilliant Darrell Hammond, then went with Will Forte for awhile, and finally settled on Jason Sudeikis. None of them have risen to the level of Ferrell's Bush or Hammond's Clinton.

(forgive a potential raft of incorrect spellings on the names above - I didn't have time to check)

Re: Fey/Palin

There was that Hillary 3 a.m. parody ad from this spring, which had Obama calling up Clinton and asking for advice on everything from how to manage some foreign policy crisis to fixing the White House heater. That's the only one I can remember.

But don't worry, Christian. They'll have 4-8 years to make loads of fun of President Obama.
