Heh. Those wacky Obama worshipers. They've come out with a bumper sticker they are sure is going to stick it to McCain-Palin. Putting aside the fact Ace noted — that this line of thinking only reinforces the Obamessiah storyline that is sure to creep out those all-important independent swing voters — it's pretty easy to play this game.
- Jesus was a Jew and Pontius Pilate was a believer in a wacky version of religion. So, of course, it follows that Joe Lieberman should be president and Barack Obama should be scorned by history.
- Jesus had long hair and Pontius Pilate had a comb over. So, of course, it follows that Sarah Palin is a better choice than Joe Biden.
- Jesus was a frumpy dresser, Pontius Pilate liked flashy clothes. So, of course, if follows that John McCain is a better choice than Barack Obama.
- Jesus was way cool and Pontius Pilate was a stuffy old man. So, of course, if follows that Palin is a better choice than Biden.
With due apologies to Wallace Shawn, we can go on all day with this. Inconceivable!

Jesus was not a community
Jesus was not a community organizer.
Pontius Pilate was NOT a governor. He was a procurator. A babysitter, of sorts. He, like Obama, never had to make a tough decision. In fact, the only historical record of a tough decision he faced is the night of Jesus' crucifixion. He could have stopped it, but instead, he simply voted "PRESENT."
Check out Obama's voting record. He's not the messiah. He's not even a governor. He's less than nothing when it comes to viewing his track record.
TLC will not be mocked!
Such earnestness. I hope TLC sells a lot of bumper stickers and pushes the meme as far as it will go and we'll see who has the last laugh. I readily concede it may be Obama doing the laughing. But, as I argue here, I don't think "community organizers" are worth going to the wall for.

Itsn't it odd that Republicans, who preach self-reliance and getting off the tax-payer's dime, are making fun of people who bypass the government and help them out of poverty? So the message is that we should keep poor people poor? That's a great message of hope and change.

It's knowing the difference between vigorous, active citizenship and professional hustling for government grants. As Steve Malanga notes in the Summer issue of City Journal: "Obama began his organizing life in the mid-1980s in a community group whose progress mirrored that of the rest of the industry: the Developing Communities Project, formed on Chicago’s South Side as a 'faith-based grassroots organization organizing and advocating for social change.' Though founded with resources from a coalition of churches, over time the DCP evolved, like many left-leaning religious organizations, into a government contractor essentially subsisting on tax money—with nearly 80 percent of its revenues deriving from public contracts and grants."

The comparison between community organizers is warranted because Palin specifically attacked Obama for this.
